Located on the middle of Santiago Centro, near the metro station of the same name It was constructed along with the rest of the city on february 12 in 1542 by the Spanish Conquerors were designed on a standard military fashion based on a grid pattern, taken from the Roman castrum, of which one of the blocks would be left vacant to form the Plaza de Armas.
